After a recent Battery/Starter/Cable problem I found I was unable to re-code the original Ford Cassette/Radio in My Maverick, so I decided to get a new Radio/CD player. Got a good deal from Halfrauds on an ex display model and took it home to fit.
Problem being, the cage that came with new Radio will not fit in hole for the original!
The Radio won't fit in original gap as gap is too big.
If I remove original radio gap/mount/fitting the hole left will be too big for cage on new Radio!
What do I do??????
ANYONE ELSE OVERCOME THIS SAME PROBLEM?

i thought the'y were the same size radio, as when i put i aftermarket radio in my terrano, i simply unbolted the old radio from the dash 'nissan security' and fitted the cage for my new on, just slid in

The fitting cage that came with my Kenwood Radio is virtually an identical size to the fixing for the original Ford unit.
Difference being, the original is only made to fit the Ford Radio.
The Kenwood locks into the cage supplied!
At the moment, the new Radio is just pushed into hole, not fixed so it moves about and needs to be fixed solid.

I had a similar problem and thought the cage was the same size as the hole so wouldnt go in, a bit of gentle persuasion :naughty and it went in, was really tight to get the radio into the cage but it went and all working fine.

I had the same for the Pioneer, I had to use a file to square the corners of the dash cut out, and just take a fraction more off of the 2 sides, of the hole as well. It only needed a fraction though, but it was not going to go in with out it, as it caused the top and bottom of the cage to bow inwards, stopping the radio from fitting in, with out doing it.

Managed to get radio fitted by cutting a few bits out.
Got cage wedged in nice and tight then pushed radio in.
Wouldn't want to try and get it out again though!
Let's hope it lasts whatever life of the Mav is left!
