Advice I have a 2.7tdi engine gauge go`s to just under half way after about two miles the heaters are perfect , My question is the top of the rad and top hose are hot but I can still put my hands on them but bottom hose is luke warm I have been told this is normal :nenau:nenau

Since I have had it back from the garage the longest trip I have done is about 15 miles but got a 100 mile trip this weekend

When engine is cold try removing rad cap to see if there is coolant in there. If there is a leak the level can drop. Incidentally the water pump is a prime candidate for leaking, symptoms are a very small drip on to floor in the centre just under the front.
Also these trucks tend to run cool or at least all mine have.

Yes bottom hose should be cold or warm after a good run, this is what your rad is supposed to do (feed cold/cool water to the engine) the thermostat takes care of the running temperature by drawing just the amount of cooler water that it needs, Rick

Lower Hose Cold

Sounds normal to me you would probably only get hot at the bottom in the summer after a motorway run..
