It was a sad day this afternoon when i slipped off a verge & submerged in 6 foot of water  at Bures :(
Took there new arrival... a 25 tonne Scammel to pull it out :D
So now my dilemma is what to get to replace it :nenau
£1000 max is my budget :)
The short list...
Another Terrano / Maverick (can't lift the front easy & no diff locks)
Vitara (bloody petrol but can lift easy)
Disco :)o cheap & easy)
Defender 90 / 110 (a proper 4x4 :naughty)
What do you think.?

all i can say is wheres the PICS!!

sorry to hear about your miss happ.

Another Terrano / Maverick (can't lift the front easy & no diff locks) go on I know you want to!.

Vitara (bloody petrol but can lift easy) but its so UGLY

Disco :)o cheap & easy) and for your budget, rot box

Defender 90 / 110 th edark side is calling then....

I wasnt exactly in a position to take any pics :doh :lol

But it was filmed & plenty of pics taken so will be on www.youtube.com or another 4x4 site i'm sure :augie

Will have to keep an eye out then.

who else was there???

A shit load of discos :lol :lol :lol

Half of which i'd pulled out through the day :D

There tempting but although a good 4x4 its not what i want & i'd rather have a Wrangler if i went Jeep :thumbs

Another Terrano / Maverick (can't lift the front easy & no diff locks) = Done pretty well upto date, and not raising front was reason for the slip into water?
Vitara (bloody petrol but can lift easy) = SJ for off rd mods cheap
Disco :)o cheap & easy) = :eek:if its not rotten when bought it will b within a year, loads of bits cheap tho.
Defender 90 / 110 (a proper 4x4 :naughty) = getting adecent one within budget :nenau Series 3 with Tdi conversion:augie
Or the alternative way sugested by DaveD, jeep - off road mods bits and peices avail easy

You pays your money you makes your choice

(i'd go with another Maveranno - cheap, plentiful, reliable, good club):thumbs:D

I'd be happy with another Terrick :augie :lol if i can find 1 :nenau
& the budget is the deciding factor
& yes it has taken the abuse well :bow
But :augie
If it had lockers it would of more than likely got out & if not the extra height 'might' of saved the old girl :nenau
Unfortunately i've seen bloody discos submerged totally & survive
icon8.gif
just luck i guess :( bad luck :(

i'm not too techy, as many will have gathered, but there can't be that much different 'tween a disco and ours that would make dirty frog die where a disco would just dry out and carry on? Granted discos have as much electronics as the average sherman tank, but even so??

Wasn't someone comtemlating trying to put lockers on a few days ago on a thread? or was that a troll?

A few on here but no one has done it yet :augieI think our engines are on a par with the 200 green oval engines :nenau
Just didn't turn off quick enough & sand is a mechanical killer :doh

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO bummer
As regards the engine side of things why note undo the injectors and flood with diesel and spin the bugger. As you've resigned it to death it's worth a whirl:augie
IF you're buying again with a grand, why not just change the engine for now while you save for the 90:cool:

on the LSD front I'm on the case:thumbs
Got a subaru diff and a friendly(ish) gearbox meastro mechanic :augie
He's going to be holding my hand next weekend when we have a go at the frankenstien diff project:sly
Watch this space:naughty

Can't lift front - ooops and theres me running round with a 2" lift - I didn't realise it couldn't be done. Makeitfit and the rest of the welsh lads are going to be upset too.

What are you going to buy for £1000 that has diff locks? At least the T2/Mav has a rear LSD for that money. If you mean centre diff lock ten the reason a T2 doesn't have one is it doesn't have a centre diff to lock and thus no need for one, but traction wise it behaves like it has one.

Discos for that money are rot boxes.
Defenders don't come for that money - well not even half decent ones
Oh and sorry to disappoint but vitara has same style front suspension as a T2 and of course we all know they can't be lifted at the front.

Get a Suzuki Samurai!

Cheaper than the others, more reliable than a Landy, more mods available for it than pretty much anything else, parts are light and easy to work with, no silly independant suspension and they go where most wont...
I have owned Landys, Vitaras, Diahatsus a Maverick and several SJ's and only one stands out as a true off-road play toy worth bothering with if you have a low budget - the mighty Sam!

3" parabolic lift, 31" macho's, snorkel and a tuned engine... believe me it goes where 90s dream
