pete is in a garage now and asked me to ask a question

he wants to know what voltage should be going to the crank position sensor
he is showing 1 volt

anyone got any ideas

Manual doesn't give avoltage at it but then its a hall affect sensor so theres no need for a supply to it.

Details are section EC page 385 of manual

Check resistance between pins 1 and 2 of sensor should be around 900 ohm

thanks terra
im doing this by phone to him

that seemed to make sense to his mechanic

he also has error code 00e3

could they be linked

double checked and thats the code he has

hes done the maf
and the crank sensor

no change

it sounds like fuel or really bad switch in ingition
ticks over ok then misses and runs all flat with no guts at all
no revs or little anyway

bit like emergency mode my description not his

what the deal on number one injector could that be a problem ?

Must be using a code reader then as you can't get an"e" te other way. He'll need his book or whatever came with it then or do it manually as per above.

It could be the throttle position sensor if its a fly by wire model.

Worring thing is my MIL light came on today and symptons sound similar.

they done the throttle position sensor too now its ok

you know how you describe the intermittent fuel problem .
its like that

or dodgy wire on the maf kicking the emergency mode in
hes tried 3 mafs i beleive

what does number 1 injector do

Hitachi MAF is too reliable for three to be up the creek......

Jeremy described it the other day - must admit notthat up on it.

Something to do with it tells the ECU exactly when things really happen as apposed to when the ECU tells it to happen so that the ECU can retime things to actually happen when it wants it to. Its a closed circuit loop that self cancels the lag in the system so the ECU can control things more acturately.

see i sugested new injectors and filter and fuel lines
its quite a rusty one (dont read that one pete) if you know what i mean
he gets a white puff of smoke and then nothing revs wise

it was quite irregular now its very often

and his ignition switch is the worst ive seen on any car
ive seen better screwdriver jobs

is it possible the nats thing is controlled by key possition

has he bled his filter in case theres seawater in there!

i recon he needs to fix the problems he has already switch and fuel . then he can test it properly..... but you know pete:splif:stupid:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead

Oi, ya monkeys:p
Just got back from world of computers, grr:eek:
Fault codes are 0047 Crank position sensor
and 00e3 ! which says NATS malfunction:nenau
Checked the pin 1 & 2 thing and got 1600 ohms, but was told that's not unusual. Is it? The old one was 1450 ohms!
MAF had good voltage progression through the revs:clap
BUT going on from what extreme said to me, the readings for the Fuel Injection Timing C/V at tick over 65% rising to about 83% at 2000rpm but then the % went down as the revs went up! That seemed odd!:augie

The key switch is a pain for sure and has got worse the last couple of weeks.
Had a quick look in the scrap yard today but seems a pain job to change, anyone done it?

Symptoms are it will run with no sensor in place but slow pick up and will cough white smoke just before the turbo comes in, then its better but still proper flat response:(

So big question time whats going on?
Still getting about 25mpg though.

would it help if he pluged 2 in so he can compare readings

i still say fuel though....

Could well be fuel but how and when its delivered by what seems a bit of a mystery.
Same faults with both sensors:nenau
