Thats what I thought the mav would do,when I fitted the b/rings this today with the box in 4w low I could roll the wheel without the driveshifts moving, had a quick play before I set of for work, can't hear the click when I reverse out of 4wd, but when it's in the steering was heavier.Paul, i was able to rotate the front prop 5/12ths before it was stopped by hubs locking
on the patrol yesterday, with them locked by the wheel brace ( P's have auto and lock
positions on the hub) it only moved 1/12th of a rotation which is just general slack in
the diff.

That makes sence when I think about it..:doh thinking about putting her up on stands with all the wheels of the ground to see if they all move.I htink you are testing this 'back to front' if you spin the wheel it will not engage the 'brake rings' the engagment of 4x4 moves the drive shaft and that in turn locks the hubs, once 4x4 is deselected the movment of the wheels with static shafts disengages the hubs.
so basically you need to turn the shafts not the hubs for them to engage.

Ex, what do you use to move them? had ago by hand and no luck.i usualy select 2wd then turn the drive shafts by hand with the wheels on the ground
if they lock up the hubs are working
