Currently in talks with these guys to see if we can get some forum discount on this stuff

http://www.vinyldye.co.uk/TRG-Vinyl...nt-Large/Black-Vinyl-Dye-Plastic-Paint-By-TRG

I've recently sprayed all of the upper plastics in my Terrano black using grey primer and LOTS of layers of satin black paint and it's all chipping off already :doh

All you have to do is touch it with your fingernail and off it comes, this stuff dyes the plastic black and doesn't chip off like paint, have a look at some of the testimonials and projects it's been used for, it looks awesome, I'm super excited :clap

Hero, I hate my cream interior :thumb2

Keepe us posted dude, I'll have a can for sure :thumb2

Vinyl Dye

Back in the 60's the Vauxhall Dealer I worked for used to paint trim panels for Vauxhall Motors. At peak build times this work was outsourced to approved dealers.

The product came from a local firm called "Quadraline" and I used some on my Mini interior that was red & grey. I brush painted most of the interior in matt black using a cloth to wipe off the excess. As its a dye and not a paint no brush marks or runs! Can't remember now what I used to clean the trim with - it was probably Swarfega and then a thin wipe down with Meths.

As it is a dye not sure how it would work on top of previous aftermarket paints. But on top factory finshed trim it should key OK. I suspect there is a cleaning / keying agent available.
I had the car for 3 years and it never came off and that included the rear seat squab & cushion.

If you don't use the right activator for plastic then you will never get a durable finish with paint.
Spray cans that claim to be for plastic are crap.
An etch primer with plastic activator and a 2k top coat using the same will give you a good finish.
The activator let's the paint expand and contract with the plastic as it warms and cools.the etch primer eats into the plastic to give a good key for topcoating.

Thanks for the info boys, you've been on the earth longer than me and I don't know these hacks :sly

Adam from VinylDye has e-mailed me back and is happy to set some discount up for us subject to me doing a detailed write up and of course subject to me being happy with the end result

He's advised that lots of forums have been in touch asking the same question and they do lots of business with them too, you can also overbuy and send back if you don't use etc

I feel good about this and I'm going to give it a crack, they even colour match :thumbs2

Sounds like some free samples could be in the pipeline...lol :augie

Now what about some discount and free samples from some of the Malt Whisky Distilleries north of the border?
I'm willing to post my findings on this forum...
Always willing to sample a few... lol

Come on Banshee. PICS.

The paint I got was 25 quid a tin goes on well and doesn't chip off.
