Pressure at oil filler ?

If I remove the oil filler cap and put my hand over it there is a fair bit of pressure coming out. Is this normal ?

Not 100% sure but it could be a blocked engine breather, again , not sure where this is on the engine but someone will know.
If it's not that, then it could be that the engine is pressurizing and this could mean, worn piston rings, how many miles has it done

Going to get it comp tested asap, and try and clean out all the pipes and valves associated with the crankcase ventilation.

Had the intercooler off today, ready for the mechanic to do a compression test, also took the rocker cover off to check and adjust the tappets. No comp test as he didn't show, but it's much quieter now - I can actually hear the turbo spinning up.
Flushed the rocker cover with paraffin in case anything was blocked, flushed the blow by valve/oil catch thing too but that wasn't blocked either.
Rebuilt it, still got the same pressure at the filler cap, enough to move the cap around if it's not done up. Seems to be less pressure as the revs increase ?

Have you noticed if the engine has less power or is lacking in performance, if not, just use it and see how you go and stop looking for problems

Not looking for problems. The car's for sale and the bloke who came to look at it yesterday said no because of the pressure at the cap, he was convinced (by his mate) that the engine was about to blow up. :nenau Never had any running problems with the car, apart from when I first got it, and that was the mini filter blocked.:nenau

that could be your problem, there is a filter that is wrong or sumit on the market, i know some of the older members used to discuss it. ill look

the oil filter causes back pressure. that is different to say the least!

Got another filter here, might as well swap it and see if it makes any difference.

i think it was more the oil change than owt else in the above post/link
nothing to do with the filter

looking at the lubrication circuit diagrams, there are a couple of releif valves, anyone ever had problems with them ?
