Has the fuel tank been run to empty? This drag rubbish from the bottom of the tank into the fuel lines.
 
Yes, I agree and looks like is the basic place to start. The source !!

Will start with the filter.

Is there any test that I can do to see if the route from the tank to the filter is cleared enough? So that I don't have to replace the fuel lines if there is no need to.

You'll probably be replacing the fuel lines soon anyway. They tend to rot out and leak. Most people on here have already changed the fuel lines, front to back with rubber.

It's an easy and cheap job to do.

I did mine earlier this year, so don't worry about changing them.

The previous owner said that the filters were new, doesn't look brand new but also doesn't look that has more than 5.000 miles on it.:nenau:nenau

Welcome, I changed my fuel filter twice in a few months as I was getting power loss, I have had no issues (touch wood) since the last fuel filter change.
