Hi guys, need a bit of advice if possible?

I was driving home on the motorway this afternoon and noticed that when i tried to accelerate from a steady cruising speed of about 70mph i noticed a loss of power.

I cant be certain but the warning light may have flashed on momentarily, so i will check the fault codes and see if anything has registered...

Then when i got home i noticed that the power loss seemed to get a little worse, my first thought was fuel starvation, so i promptly went and got a fuel filter, fitted but no different.

Mine doesnt have the banjo filter in by the way.

Any thoughts?

Checked fault codes and it came up with 21 which reads as -

Fuel injection timing solenoid/injector needle lift sensor-malfunction
Probable cause: Wiring, fuel injection timing solenoid, injector needle lift sensor, CKP sensor, air in fuel

Any ideas?

Check the codes for sure. Have you tried the truck since getting home? If it's fine when cold but faults when warm I'd be suspect crankshaft position sensor.

Ahh just seen ya second post. Hope it's not the no1 injector. Give the cup a good clean, rick knows of a cheap alternative sensor from an Audi or something.

on the TDi I have seen two styles, one with the mini filter and the other with a metering orifice, first to check is for this to be obstructed, it is in the same place in the banjo bolt, Rick

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.

It has the Bosch MAF so i am guessing its Bosch....

So as mine doesnt have the banjo filter should i remove the banjo bolt and check it is not blocked in anyway?

OK on the Bosch the reading on the two wires from the injector should be around 100 ohms, if the CKP sensor was bad it will give code 47, re the banjo bolt I guess you have had it off once to determine you have not got the mini filter, so yes take it off again and check the orifice it is very small so could become blocked, Rick

Ok so if i take the banjo bolt off and its clean what next?

If you remove the banjo bolt if there is no filter inside it you should be able to see through the 4 holes on the side of the bolt clearly if you can't then there will be a filter inside of it which will be black with muck:augie

Took banjo bolt off and to my surprise it does appear to have a filter inside, which does look gummed up....but it also looks like it is pressed inside the banjo bolt and it doesnt seem to come out, I have blasted with my air line and it looks better but am not sure it is clear...any ideas?

I'm sure others on here have just removed the filter completely and had no issues since
