Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can offer me a little help or advice please?

Over the last few days I have noticed my truck has developed what I would probably describe as a little bit of a hickup whilst cruising at around 50mph or 2000rpm.

Apart from that it seems to be running well, the power delivery is good, as is fuel economy its just when I am keeping a steady 2000rpm it feels almost like a little misfire...I don't know why but I am thinking on the line of the MAF, if it is is it servicable or cheap enough to replace?

Any help or advice is much appreciated

depends on the MAF. is it Hitachi or Bosch? if HItachi, undo the two little screws, pull out, and clean with electrical contact cleaner-leave to dry. if its Bosch, buy a new one.

also consider -

no1 injector

CKP sensor

pedal.

!!

may be worth hooking up a laptop to it if you have the kit, that should tell you whats going on at 2k rpm..

Clivvy thanks for the reply.

What do i need to be able to hook it up to a laptop?

Cheers

Hi Clivvy, thanks for the reply.

I am in Bradford, is there anyone anywhere near me that has this equipment and could do the test?

Cheers

Is this the two screws in the MAF?

Do i unscrew them, pull out the element and clean?
What is the best thing to clean it with?

Ur maf looks like a Bosch 1 and I think it doesn't do much cleaning it as it self cleans it self.:thumb2

yeah thats a bosch maf, cant really clean them as they are self cleaning, doesnt mean they dont fail though, but cheap to replace.

hmm..i just had a thought. Could be EGR.

im having a very similar issue with my Fiat Stilo JTD. Fairly sure its the EGR so I am blanking it off.

Im in Huddersfield, so if it comes to it, we can meet and you can use my kit. Mate of mine lives in Bradford actually.:thumbs

also, if you are running your own bio...could it be that? is your filter now clogged??

Clivvy, mine doesn't have a EGR, i checked that ages ago with the plan to blank it off.

I aren't running my bio, haven't done for a while, shortage of oil unfortunately....running on forecourt diesel.

I would be much appreciated if you could let me use your kit, thanks for the offer.

no egr? ok thats another thing off the list. just thought, try unplugging the MAF, as in pull the connector off the top, and drive like that, see if its the same, worse or better. If the MAF is ok, it should be worse with it unplugged.

i have a feeling this issue MIGHT be the pedal....i just cant think of what else would cause a hickup at 2k rpm specifically. is it always at 50 mph, or is the hickup present whenever you hit 2k rpm?

Hi all, quick update...

This afternoon i checked for error codes through the data link connector with the paper clip and it flashed to indicate 55

Looking at the list 55 is no fault found, now i am not sure that is a good or a bad thing.

Where do i go from here?

Cheers

Have you tried a bottle of injector cleaner? Cheap and easy enough too use, I had a similer problem a couple of weeks ago but at lower reves than you. Put in a bottle when topped up at ASDA and today returned from a 400 mile trip towing the caravan with no hiccups. Regards. Bri

ok, this is more good than bad, because it means electrically, youre good, and mechanically, probably good. just need to know whats going on when it hiccups. could well be an injector is clogged and as Wildbri suggests, get some injector cleaner, and go for a BLAST, get smoke pouring out the back as best you can lol, see if that helps....!

Hi Guys, so is there a recommended injector cleaner i should buy or is it just any?

Hickup

I had the same problem, replaced the BOSCH MAF tonight, problem gone and more power :thumb2

Okay probably best to do that.

Is mine definitely the one on the ebay link you sent me clivvy?

Cheers
Stephen
