Hi All and happy new year!!
Since doing the mini filter on my Mav a couple of months ago, there has been a high pitch whistling from the front somewhere, I removed the power steering pump to do this and tensioned the belt etc. Last few days this has got worse but its hard to pinpoint!! Obviously one of the pumps imo but which is it more likely to be? I think the power steering pump is dodgy anyway as in low revs / standstill steering is very heavy, I know how easy the power steering pump is to change but do they whisle when giving up the ghost? but is changing the water pump a DIY job as very skint after xmas..lol
Mav is a 2.7 TD on an M regd.
Also if it is the water pump wheres the best place to purchase the right one?
Cheers Rich

try new belts on the ac and power steering you'll prob find that will cure it

Good link Tezzer!! so think im gonna go for belt renewal first, no aircon on my Mav so one less pulley to worry about, then waterpump. Not likely to be power steering pump then??

i think for a water pump to be screeeching it would be well dead and leaking at the bearings and all..... so id eliminate the water pump:augie:augie

try the belts see how that goes

When water pump on mine was goosed it never made a screeching sound or whining. The belts used to whine though until I changed them. Get a screech on full lock recently since changing the vacuum pump but would think that is also probably belts needing adjusting rather than anything wrong with the pump.
