Well you called your first car Sally, and then you go and introduce another woman called Wendy, of course Sally will play up. :doh
That is a very good point, you see that Pete, Rick
according to the manual, if it pulls in forward but not reverse, then check the fluid, if OK then remove the sump and check the control valve assembly, this is a very complicated multi part valve block, with lots of balls and springs, so may be a bit too big a job for Ross but you have nothing to loose it could just be a bit of swarff stuck under a ball, but as I said on the phone I would give it 1200 revs cold and whack it from drive to reverse several times to try and clear it first, with your foot in the foot brake of course, Rick

it does seem a bit of a coinkidink doesnt it..
anyway, id say if you can, drive it down to Ricks. I cant see any reason why you would need reverse if you stick to the motorways etc? although in saying that..if you have to stop off on the way, you may find youself in a position where you have to reverse?
id ask ross, seen as he has the car, to try what Rick suggested with the gears, perhaps he can clear it?

I remember, long ago, when my father passed his motorcycle test then the only other vehicle he could then drive was a three wheeler, in fact he bought a reliant regal. A condition at the time was that the reverse gear was blanked off, could you believe that. Now some motorbikes have reverse.
So he became very profficient at parking, drive through on car parks etc, don't parallel park, and never get too close to the vehicle in front.
Park on a hill so you can roll back etc.
So you should be able to do a journey without using reverse.
Maybe we all should try it, and see how far we get. :doh
It's more difficult than we think, but with care you should be ok.
2 tonnes is not a weight that one person alone should try to push.
Good luck,
best regards, Rustic
come on Pete, have some confidence, anyway, have they got back to you yet??
phone call from ross at the garage ......
they followed ricks advice , and ........it seems to have cured it , they are going to " test it " some more with ricks advice , then change all filters/atf oil etc , and see what happens by tomorrow
