ive recently joined nissan 4x4 and purchased a 1995 mistral to tow my swift danette which laden weighs about 1060kg
i was a little disapointed when ive just been away with them both for the first time mistral performed great on the flat but when it came to a hill it seem to be up and down the gears and struggling with minor hills not sure if some of it was pilot error
but have now noticed there is a metal pipe under the servo looks like a gearbox overflow pipe maybe im not sure hope someone can help it appears to be leaking atf from it whilst i was towing but i am noticing there seems to be far to much fluid in the box weigh past the max mark on the stick
when is the best time to check the fliud level and is it with the car hot or cold and in park or drive??
im going to change the fluid tomorow any ideas wot they hold roughly and is there a filter to clean if so where is it located ??
also could the kickdown cable need adjusting
help ....
or am i expecting to much from it with my caravan?

thanks sorry about the length of this

If you add your vehicle details as your signature, we will be able to see what you drive and give more direct advice, as it is we're guessing at make , model, year, engine size etc

At a gues I'd say look in the downloads section on the home page and try cleaning the mini filter, this works wonders.

Or if it's a later model the MAF sensor might need cleaning or be on it's way out. As Andy says, need to know what you drive mate.

searching for gears -> could try using box manually plus use sport mode if has one. several misty owners here that tow, shark1e pulled a 5.5 meter twin axle ok, so sure some one will be along soon.
