Thanks. Rebuilt the calipers on our Mini and a Rangie I had last year, so I'll get it off and see what sort of a job it's going to be...

I can cope with it being off the road for a while if needs be. It might just be low pads. The pistons don't always like being so far out.

Adjusting the hand brake

A couple of days before the MOT I adjusted the handbrake, we all know the procedure...

But with the cable slack and the drums off, I was still able to rotate the adjuster ratchet (cam or whatever) 6 clicks, and I was still able to get the hub back on. --- just. :augie

Last year I did the same, the drums are not wearing down, and the shoes look evenly worn, but it really shows that the Auto adjusters on the rear brakes are hopeless, worthless and non functional.

Any way the hand brake is better and the overall performance much better.

The front always tends to pick up when braking heavy, ( Non ABS) I only remember once when the rear brakes locked up before the front, so there must have been oil on the road.

So worth adjusting those rear brakes, :thumb2

30-40 minute job max, provided the hub comes off.

Back adjusters

Had my brakes done by my garage, and they struggled with handbrake the back adjusters Knackard they will only adjust by hand so we needed to keep moving adjuster and putting drum back test do again, The hand brake is poor again but now the brakes should be beded in now, So will adjust by hand again when the rain stops ???
