Nope pollen filter being blocked restricts air flow into the car, thus causing any heat in the matrix not being used to heat enough air.
I fitted an 88 degree thermostat which has made my car loads warmer and seems to of made mpg better because it's running a bit warmer now. Theres another recent thread on the same subject.
88 degree thermostat?
didnt know that you could get them in different temperatures. mine is the same hardly moves the temperature guage, unless towing when does go up a tad more. So im interested.

Standard is 82 degrees but any motor spares shop should be able to order an 88 degree. Toolbox has been running on 88 for a while, we've had this subject several times before but we've had it a couple of week ago. They're the same price, same fitting and the car warms up quicker and the guage moves up to about half way and remains stable. I've not tried towing with it but if you keep an 82 degree as a spare you can change back if you feel uncomfortable.

PS just tried looking for the thread but can't find it, it's ver recent as the bloke fitted his 88 degree this week.
