What's the benefits of fitting polly anti roll bar bushes?

Or remaining standard rubber bushes?

Poly bushes will last much much longer, but they are firmer & may make your ride a bit harder. I fitted them on all my drop links 2 years or more ago & still going strong. :thumbs

Oh, just idle curiosity.

Reason is I removed aniti roll bar yesterday to do the drop links. Noticed main bushes are worn, just checked in the garage and i have a polly bush kit in the garage. I'll be fitting the large bushes but wondered if there was any benefit in fitting the link bushes too.

hi jim i fitted a set of the links as was fitting standard ones at mot every year due to the rubber ones perishing badly even my last Delphi links I fitted the rubber was knackered come mot time so I did mine with poly ones two years now and look as good as when i fitted them third mot in august at least that's one job I won't need to do this time i also did main anti roll bar ones at the same time:thumb2

My rear axle bushes were original, at a guess, and needed a press and a prayer to remove them.
The poly bushes were a doddle to fit in comparison. Haven't done the arb links though.

As I said in another thread recently Jim don't go for the pink ones like Blocky did, they make funny noises when hitting bumps etc. :thumb2

Polybushes ?

As I have posted before I used Polybushes from Milners on my r3mR for the short axle locator but took them off the long rear suspension arms due to my teeth fillings falling out. It was expensive but I used genuine Nissan bushes at each end of the long arm and the ride with this mix was acceptable.

What worries me about such devices is where does all the absorbed energy go ?

I have an ADCO aftermarket rear ARB on my Jeep that came with it for better towing. Its 800% stiffer and has Polybush clamps as that is all you can get.
Its all okay if you have a couple of paving slabs in the boot but most of the time if it's just the driver and one passenger the ride at low speeds on poor roads is pants.

In absorbing and reducing body roll I always feel it does so at the expense not just of a hard ride but it transfers the wear to other parts of the suspension that are not similarly up-rated.
In my old Mini Rallying days you could put some nice stiff front shock absorbers on a Hydrolastic Cooper S but they would bend the top brackets on a hard impact or even worse break the actual mounting bracket eyes.

That's a good point and not something I had thought about, I have some orange poly bushes for the rear arb and its drop links in the hope of improving on road performance and towing but I'm gonna use rubber for the restm:thumb2

P.s. 800% I bet your dentist has an extra holiday since you bought the jeep :lol

As a side effect of old age and driving the Jeep I have lost most of my wisdom teeth (there is a misnomer) and have a few gaps between the others. Luckily the upper and lower front ones used for smirking etc are still in place.

I have one crown on the nearside lower side gnasher so I can still chew the cud so as to speak. That one crown fitted earlier this year paid for his service on his Scooby !

I drove home after the final Crown fitting with the essential post anesthetic slobbering from the corner of my mouth.

Pink blue or orange polly bushes were the least of the problems today. My anti roll bar is australian, good spot Tdoug :lol:lol:lol

Now got new drop links with polly bushes in a nice shade of greasy orange and also main anti roll bar bushes matching too. Will see how she goes and handles.
