pipes

hi all,a question please.
on the inside of my 99 t2 f/o/s w there is a steel pipe,looks like fuel,but dont know where it goes.its amongst the pipework.
its a horse shoe coming up and ending up facing down open ended.
any body know where it goes/does.
also my tank is not venting properly,any easy way to fix this.

Either power steering or engine oil cooler.

That's the gear, transfer and diff breather pipe :thumb2

Tank venting? is this because when you take the filler off there is pressure or slight vacuum, if so this is how it should be, Rick
