Hello, greetings, and good day.

Here is how you will assist me.

I have a very bog standard T2 LWB, on a W plate. It doesn't have roof rails, just a plain old boring flat roof.

I want roof rails, so in future I can build a safari style roof cage. I am also incredibly tight, and don't like buying expensive things.

How do I go about this? Pick the ones I want and bolt them through the roof?

Secondly, I want one of them sexy LED light bars. What size do I need, and again, what is the best way of mounting these to the roof?

I'm mildly DIY retarded, but I have a lovely selection of hammers.

Lol. Quality question and it sounds like you'll be up for trying anything.
SNH fitted a rack from a berlingo to a short wheel base and bolted it straight through the roof. This would be what I would do rather than fit rails then fit bars or a rack. Sounds like your build ideas would be long term so a solid 1 piece rack has to be better.
Would have thought there's plenty of racks/cages available 2nd hand and get it modified to fit.
Oh and don't forget to document your build with photos for everyone....

If you are going to put a safari style rack on the top, I would mount the light bar to that...

The thing with the LED light bars is you want them just forward of the windscreen, as this gives you both light down onto the road in front of the car, without illuminating the windscreen, wipers and bonnet edge.

With the light bars, you do get what you pay for, so be careful what you spend your hard earned cash on. I got a nice CREE 48" bar, which is superb, then I went and bought 2 shorter and cheaper Chinese copies, which output less light than even 1 of my old Halogen spots.

Berlingo rack job done

That's along the lines of what I want, but for a LWB. Looks sweet. Did you have to pull the headlining down and put bars across to spread the weight?

I'm toying with the idea of putting my spare wheel up there, but it's heavy and I'm not 14 feet tall.

I have same rack on my lwb as liked snh idea and found it local just bolted through roof as keeps it nice and low

I have a 2nd spare and it's just strapped to the roof with a ratchet strap around my standard roof rails :sly

Nice, I'll keep my eye out for a Berlingo rack.

Do any of you kind chaps have a picture of the inside of the roof where you've bolted through? How should I approach the weight distribution thing?

I've just used 10 L shaped brackets to spread the weight as won't have much weight up there as to high up to lift anything heavy. Had to buy a wheel step just to reach it lol
