Has anyone used one of these pods that goes onto the "A" pillar for fitting extra gauges?

If so, what one fitted best, and how did it look, ohhh, and any pics?

I was looking at something like this
tripple pod

I was going to use a double one & might yet but also thought about using a couple of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-52mm-Un...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4855e1400c & once positioned at the right angle gluing the swivel bit so it won't move.
I've got a couple of custom jobs to do on the Son's car first but once they are done i'm going to look into building my own gauge pod for either the top of the dash on the drivers side or on the A pillar

Funny you should mention that one, I was looking at one that is a bit shorter than that, and like you say, putting them on the pillar.

I am running out of places, to put things, and I wanted a volt meter to keep an eye on the second battery. I was also thinking I could use one of the pods for switches, but may not need them now, as luckily the radio has a Volt meter display built in, so that is monitoring the main battery, and I found this to sit on top of the instrument pod.

With the lack of storage space on the T2, I am loathed to loose it, as I use it for keeping my keys in, and some other odds and sods. Thanks for the offer though.

I know what you mean, stops me filling it with rubbish!! disconnected my boost gauge now as it rattled and drove me mad!! or and the pipe blew off on the motorway! it was funny :lol cheap crap off ebay!!

Shame... I must admit, I have never seen anything to convince me that I need a boost gauge, so have stayed away from it... Up until now, I didn't think I needed any extra gauges. After all the work that went into making that look so smart, you really should use it..

To be honest, the only reason I need a volt meter is I had a cell go on the second battery, but the first I knew was when the reversing camera system started playing up, as the voltage was falling to 10 volts, and too low for it to run... the trouble was, I thought it was the reverse camera system for a while. The other things that run off it, are the caravan, the rear 12v sockets, the Anderson jump lead socket, and the roof spots, but since the only thing there I use regularly is the roof spots, and they were working fine, I never even thought about the battery. It was only when I was driving slowly, on main beam, and the top lights all went dim I got my first clue. Most of the time I use them is at higher speeds, when the split charger is kicked in, so they are then running off the main battery, so never showed.

Hopefully the one I have found will do the job, and look OK.

I fitted my gauges into the centre air vents on my MK2 T2 (still got the dash) found them great there as you could see them easily:thumb2

We need it for when we transport the ferrets in the summer.

I put the boost gauge on to check i had the boost pressure it should have, which it did :) Then i had it re-mapped (Bosch ecu) chips replaced with a stage three map. Then it was throwing in more fuel so i upped the boost but it must have a boost pressure sensor as it goes into limp mode  so im back to original boost now. Goes well though.

Didn't realise the gauge pod stuck out as far but that was one of the options I was thinking of doing to mount both of my gauges:augie
This is how I had the gauges set up in my MK2 T2

Thanks, Like Sweety says, I did not realise it would stick out that far, fine for one gauge, but might be a bit obstructive for 2 or more.

I used to have my TomTom there, but I nearly lost it out the window when the sucker popped off the windscreen going round a bend with the side window open... luckily the power lead hung on...

My Mate does it (Map-power uk) cost me £140 which is pretty cheap as i was been quoted in excess of £200 My terrano is a 1998 on a s reg. You need to have the bosch ecu. Ecu is in front passenger foot well. It has to be removed and have new chips soldered in old school way. later models i think can be done without removing the ecu.

That's a good price , I'm interested :D
I've modded my engine lots and reckon a good remap will pull it all together :sly
I can't find him online so have you got a link for him :thumbs
