but possible gasket damage done already only to raise it's ugly head later, sorry but that is how it develops over time, it is not good to go over temp even once, the head and block expand to amounts not seen before and damage is done even if not seen at the time or for some time after, you may be lucky and be OK but have done enough banger racing to know that lots of engines rarely survive a first overheat, the T2 engine is agreed much more robust but it is an engine with a gasket and can only take a certain amount of abuse, Leyland produced an engine without a head gasket in the 70's think it was called the fixed head 500, never blew a head gasket cos it did not have one but was a short lived engine fore other problems, but valve grinding meant a complete engine strip, block on the bench :doh, Rick

Fingers crossed I've gotten away with it then :clap

Who's got a spare engine anyway :augie

I really have no idea how my radiator got so blocked... :augie

My Maverick went into the red if you remember Rick when my thermostat failed closed, I had the head pressure tested and all came back OK however it was never right after that...... used more oil than diesel, I'm glad it was crashed into :p

I'd get your head tested Alex, then go and have a pressure test on your engine :thumb2
