Fisrt three = Truck

These are my three Truck pics.
A.
No camera tricks involved here, just a strange blue snowy morning taken just last week. NO.8
Image0011-1.jpg

B.
This was taken from the Yorky dales trip on 1st Feb 09. Its the climb away from Helwith ford over Skelton moor. NO.9
Image005.jpg

C.
This is the same climb away from Helwith ford but from the 'in search of snow trip' in December 08. NO.10
Image008.jpg

All the above were taken with the same mobile phone camera, a Nokia 6500s.

Second three = Scenic

These are my scenic offers.
A.
Taken this morning.
This is the tree that according to google earth marks the centre of Yorkshire.
A trianglulation post can be seen to the right of the tree.
According to an elderly neighbour of mine the very same spot was used as a home guard look out post during world war two also.
This picture is facing east and if the weather had been clearer you may have been able to see York minster in the background.

Image012-1.jpg

B.
Taken this morning.
This is the view from the same tree looking south over the village of Saxton.
In the foreground is the area which was once the scene of the bloodiest battle ever fort within the British isles. The battle of Towton in 1461.

Image010.jpg

C.
This was the scene taken at sunrise one morning last week from my back garden. NO.4

garden005.jpg

All three picture were taken using a Nokia 6500s phone camera.

Please enter my pictures into the truck category (obviously) thanks,

any chance of getting my pic's on slideshow on homepage

Some nice photos there. I especially like the tree and the sunrise.

The blue truck/snow photo was taken with your cameraphone set to use Auto White Balance (which will be the default). Sometimes when set to Auto, the camera gets it wrong and uses the white balance for tungsten lighting, which looks very blue for a photo taken outside. Looks great .......

Cheers

Thanks Andrew.
Just looking at the settings on the phone now and it appears that you are correct.
The settings Ive got infront of me are - Auto, Daylight, Tungsten, Fluorescent & Horizon.
Which would have been the best setting for the snow pics do you think ?
Or is auto the correct/safe one ? My wife took some of the same scene with her camphone and they came out blue too.
Ive got an Hitachi vidcam that also takes stills onto a memory card, but between that and the camphone the camphone pics seem far better quality. Unless I need to set the Hitachi up right ?

I tend to leave mine on auto most of the time - unless I've got a good reason to change. I wouldn't worry about it. I think the blue snow looks great. If the camera hadn't done it for you, I'd have been tempted to set it to "Tungsten" to get that effect anyway. Just use the one that gives you the effect you like the most.

Errr ........ you took the photo of the sunrise using a Hitachi DZ-MV780E video camera. It looks OK to me. Just in case you are wondering how I know which camera you used - when a camera saves a JEPG, it embeds something called EXIF data into it, which can be read using image editing software such as photoshop or Iview. You can download PhotoMe from http://www.photome.de (freeware) which shows you all the EXIF data embedded in JPEGs. You'd be amazed just how much data some cameras save into the JPEG.

Cheers
