Oh the shame of it all. In a bout of senile dementia, sigh, I managed to fill-up my diesel Terrano with 40L of that other smelly stuff! Even at %50 mix it still ran OK for 20 miles but then wouldn't re-start (no surprise there then).

Called out Green Flag who very professionally pumped out the tank & refilled with 10L of the correct stuff. Expecting a £200 bill on top of the £95 I'd just wasted, I was very relieved to get no charge!!!! It's covered by the policy: what a nice surprise.

After a refill (with my usual 1/200 of 2SO) I've just driven 175 miles towing my caravan & it appears (yes really) to be going better & is giving 24.5MPG (55MPH on MWs), which is easily 1MPG better than before! Can't be bad for a 3L auto.

I'm not recommending this experience but, for what it's worth, I do feel that adding 2SO helped save the day. Now to change the fuel filter........just in case?.....no, it's due anyway LOL.

Following my experience with Harlowmavericks 3 that previous owner had been running on suspect bio, after trailering it home and lots of head scratching put a high pressure pump onto the feed and ran it for a while with proper derv, and it ran a lot better, piped it up normal and took it up the road and was perfect, so after your "petrol injection" I just wonder if these pumps suffer crud build up of some sort that needs a clean out every so often? Rick

Might be some truth in your theory re 'crud build-up'. After using 2SO for about 1K miles the engine was definitely going better, quieter & putting out a lot less smoke/particles. I will continue to use it just for 'ins.' as it's bound to improve lubricity.
Fingers crossed that I haven't done some damage that's yet to show itself LOL (or not......).

Yeah I saw rob pouring 2 Stroke in his Diesel on the Yorkshire trip, he said it runs better :thumb2

A bit of petrol in will actually do a good job of cleaning the system and in really cold regions people sometimes put a bit of petrol in to stop the diesel and fuel system freezing.
