Next was the fuel leak. This had been leaking on and off for a long time now.

What it is, is that when running with anywhere close to a full tank it would be leaking where the fuel pump is.

The problem was that the sender unit was a diesel and had to be modified for petrol. On part of the modification where a hole was drilled for a wire, it was pressurising when near full and pushing fuel out past the rubber grommet, and nothing was stopping it.

Took the decision that the only way was to do it properly and put in a petrol sender unit and pump.

I couldn't have the chance of any flames coming out the exhaust and fuel in the same vicinity

Now the problem was that what the Aussie boys and girls do is put a sender and pump in from a 4.5 or 4.8TB petrol Patrol in.

Yeah, like we have them rolling about here no problems :doh

Another task and a half was on to see what I could do....

What I found was a site that might even help out you Terrano guys but I'm not sure as I haven't looked for Terrano bits but could be worth a shout as they are cheap also.

All the way from the UAE!

https://partsouq.com/

Brilliant service and cheap also.

Brand new sender unit for a 4.8 Patrol

Here it is next to the old one.

Now to swap over the fuel pump for the uprated one as the standard can't flow enough fuel.

Some more rust proofing has been done.

The wiring has been looked at. To be fair, MGT tidied a lot of it up when getting tuned around the ECU so that's good.

I've bought a 2ltr Foam fire extinguisher and a 2kg Dry Powder fire extinguisher, so they just need bolted in.

Thanks to Jay, I now have an ARB Air compressor. Just need all the accessories to fit.

I've also now got a synthetic rope and a very nice hook for the winch :bow so that is now done too.

We are not looking too bad at the moment. The biggest thing to sort were the fuel and oil leaks. Now they are done it will hopefully be a bit easier.

Shocks have been re-gassed.

They were a bit all over the place which just goes to show things aren't always right from the factory. Worth checking.

Now 200psi pressure all round and firmer so handles a bit better.
Still wobbly but it's a big ass bus :lol

All suspension checked over and re-tightened too as it all settles.

Running 40 inch tyres can be difficult and one problem I'm having is wheel wobble at about 60mph. Fine above and below but its right at cruising speed which is a pain.

Decided to put the Pedders steering damper back on, so running 2 dampers now. The Pedders and the Return To Centre Tough Dog, both working in opposite direction to steady the vibrations at speed.

Its worked well but need to decide whether to also put balancing beads in too. Not sure.

It's getting there!!!

Have you looked into castor angle which could be causing it, What Susp lift height are you running?

Suspension kit is on page 11 :thumb2
5 inch suspension lift, 2 inch body lift to fit suspension tower brace.

Actually I tell a lie. Winch is not set up properly as it uses an air brake.
So until the air compressor is up and running the winch is not.

That is some pretty serious lift, It's something to consider anyway.

Yeah thanks, any input is helpful as I might have missed something:thumb2

I think with the drop boxes and the whole kit set right it is all aligned very well, all bushes are new. It was put together as a kit by Superior to work together and nothing is at a funny angle, its all straight.
I believe it really is just the fact it is on bead lockers and massive tyres, its to be expected a little but the damper has made a big difference.

47 litre ARB fridge install.

Took me ages to decide between the ARB and Engle fridges. I believe the Engle is probably regarded in higher esteem than the ARB but not much in it really. This is a really good fridge and the deal I got for this and the operation of the fridge much better suites my application and also it is a good bit bigger too being 47 litre which is better for family trips
