Im thinking of changing the suspension on my y61 lwb patrol and ive read countless threads but just thought id ask if anyone has any experience with this product
http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/oth...patrol-gr-y61-lwb-60mm-lift-kit/prod_139.html

Im thinking 60mm might be a bit excessive for other alignment standard products already on the car, any thoughts?
It also seems quite pricey, I was hoping to get 4 springs and 4 good shocks, 2 inch lift, for about the £500 mark or am I needing to push the boat out

Seems a little on the strong side . Check out Pedders for proper UK based but Ausy kit specifically for your truck. Al;so variable spring loads avail to suit your end use.
I'd ring them up as they're very helpful and most knowledgeable on Patrols

50mm lift is about the limit on std steering set up. Above that you'll need correction bushes etc

Yeah pedders seems like a good one, but o.m.e seem to be the favoured opinion from over seas but is this tailored to Aus terrain or does that really matter. I think im looking too much into it lol.
I'll see if I can find a price for ome and go from there.

Everything Pete says!

50mm is generally regarded as the limit without needing to change other things like steering, panhard rods and use correction bushes etc. Pedders are a good shout. Just give them a ring and they'll tell you which springs and shocks you need to suit your Trol. I have Pedders 50mm springs and matching shocks on my Y61 Trol and I think Pete has the same on his Y60 Trol (certainly springs at least). A quick ring and they made sure I had the right ones to account for the extra weight of my winch bumper.

OME does seem to be the preference overseas but I've got no complaints about my Pedders set up :thumb2

By the way, mind and give me a shout if you're ever up my way and we can have a run in my Trol around the offroad site :thumbs

Yeah will do. I was going to give you a shout at easter time but a family member was ill and I noticed your troll was off the road with the exhaust so thought I wouldn't bother you but im up soon so will defo give you a shout :thumbs

With regards to the suspension I know what pedders can do and ive sent an email to tbr accessories via there website to match a suspension setup for me so hope to hear back from them tomorrow. Cheers guys

Barrbeast did you get the standard 2 inch lift shocks or the long travel ones?

Standard 2" lift foam cell shocks bud as otherwise you have to faff around extending brake pipes and diff breathers - with the standard 2" lift shocks and springs it's just a case of swapping out the oem shocks and springs and fabbing a wee bracket for the brake bias valve.

I am tempted to put long travel shocks on the rear axle in due course but to be honest the flex is pretty good on the normal lift shocks anyway and all the long travel ones will do is let me go further before I need to lock up the rear diff lock.

If I do I certainly won't be bothering putting them on the front as often you struggle to get the front axle on the bump stops anyway due to the way the leading arms connect to the chassis/axle (they resist flexing to an extent).

I used Ironman on mine only problem was it ended up with the back end sitting a bit lower than the front but the company gave me rear packers and that sorted this out great ride much better than standared. I did springs only but now need to get shocks and will go ironman as they seem good and not to expensive.

Kind regards

Russell.

From your pictures the standard shocks flex really well :thumb2

I've read a couple of posts about the ironman kit sitting lower at the back and then someone else bought ironman and it sat perfectly so not sure whats going on there. It was the swb patrol offroad modified one thats just been on ebay if you know the one im on about, he said his 2 inch kit lifted his about 4 inches because of the sag of the original.
My standard suspension really crashes over the bumps badly, I went laning and struggled to keep up with the modified trucks over a pot holed road as it was so bad :doh

Ride with my Pedders springs and shocks is great, much smoother than original - although judging by Russell's similar comments it looks like the standard susp is pretty dire anyway!

I've had air (didn't notice a sharp hump in the road and was doing around 40 at the time) and there was no jarring on landing just a gentle cushioning :thumbs

Sounds good mate. All going well I'll give you a shout when im up

I've given my trol some serious action both laneing and full on Pay n Play sites.
Never managed to bottom them out :sly
See here for some pedders action

Nice! I can see why they call that section the diff breaker lol

I dont know the area but it doesn't look like a place where you want to be breaking down. Talking of discos i really must try and get pics up....no booing please lol

Sorry couldn't resist :lol
He'd had several failed attempt before this :augie

Been looking at the pedders website and not sure what to make of their lift sizes. If you look at there springs and shocks page they sell standard height springs which give a measurement of 180mm at the front rim to arch 16 inch wheels and their 2 inch lift kit gives a measurement of 205mm front which doesn't equal 2 inch. Same for rear just slightly different size. Did anyone with pedders springs take a measurement before and after out of curiosity :nenau

I wondered about the maths as well but when I specified the 2" springs I got told to go with those.

I reckon their "standard" springs probably provide a small lift (~1") certainly that's me on 33" tyres with just the Pedders 2" lift and there's plenty space in the arches. :nenau

You got me trawling old posts for the right one!:lol

Back when I tried (and failed) to fit lift springs without removing the old shocks there was a few posts between myself and Russell and Iain (two other Y61 owners) about standard ride height. Going by the figures for standard springs on the Pedders site Russell thought his Ironman lift had been less than 2" and fitted 30mm packers but thought the pipes looked a bit stretched with them in.

Russell found mention on another website of 765mm standard ride height and Iain and I measured and found our fronts sitting around 760mm on the standard springs (rears around 750mm) so long story short I don't think Pedders' "standard" height is more than Nissan standard height
