Patrol factory fitted Alarm just gone mad !!

I 've had my 2001 patrol for 3 months without a problem but then yesterday I went to open the car and the alarm went off !. When I locak the car again ( using the remote ) the alarm soon goes off but as soon as I try to open the car with the remote it goes off again !!!.. I opened the car and braving the huge deafening noise started the ok with the key so I knew it wasnt the battery but it did stop the alarm..

Anyone help with this,

I rang nissan and they said they charged £72+vat per hour to diagnose it and couldnt promise how long it would take !!

Please help as it means I am without a car until I can fix it

sorry mate, i dont have a clue, but i would be ringing
a mobile auto sparky than paying nissan prices! they
will probably have more of an idea whats wrong too!

Hi just a thought. My T2's alarm does that if one of the windows is not fully closed. Doesn't need to be open much to set it off.

First answer...Thanks I would try an 'auto sparky' but I dont know any I can rely on here ( near crewe,cheshire ) and also the nissan service guy said the alarm was integrated with the main wiring loom so can be difficult to diagnose..dont know if thats true or not !

id have thought nisssan just plug into car and itd tell them the problem,does it stop if you start car or wont it let u?

When you press the remote to open the car the alarm kicks off. You can start the engine so its not immobilised but obviously with that almighty racket you cant drive it.

The nissan garage in crewe said they could diagnose it but would not give me any promises and said it could take anything from an hour to 3 days !!! and at £75/hr that just too much of a risk

Is it possible that a key reset would clear the problem, That’s if the Patrol reset is the same procedure as the Terrano key fob.

Just a thought!.

Its strange, this is your second problem and we have not been very helpful and that’s unusual that we cannot give you the answers you are hoping to find.

Just the horn goes off no the flashers ( a bit late in the evening to try it again and be sure )..

What is the key reset mentioned. ?

disconnect horn untill u can afford/find solution could get u ticket off plod though an itll anoy the heck outve you everytime some git cuts you up lol!
