I've fallen in love with a 2008 pathfinder, what you all think of them any good ?? Will it run on veg ?? Thanks

I think the Pathfinder is a Navara with a full body.

There were a few issues with the 2.5 engine as fitted in the Navara, which was oil starvation on the crankshaft if I recall.

I'm not sure when Nissan sorted out this problem on later models, but the earlier ones, if caught early, could have a modification that sorts it, BUT quite expensive, but not as much as a full engine rebuild.
There are a few non Nissan firms that can do this. £££

I'm not sure of the years, but I thought I would mention it, so worth checking before you buy.

Apart from that, I think it's a renault engine, and there have been many owners, removing the 2.5 in the Navara, and fitting a lump from a Terrano.

Again, I assume the Pathfinder has the same engine, so would suffer from the same issues, unless modded.

But engine aside, I have not heard any major issues with the rest of the vehicle.

I thought those issues were with the old 2.5di engine? I think the pathfinder (and New Navara d40) have the same 2,5dci engine.
My mate has the Navara, very huge, but a great piece of kit, I'd assume the pathfinder to be the same only with softer suspension not the leafsprings of the Navara which don't cushion unless you've got half a tonne in the back!

Exactly why so many Mavericks and Terranos go to Africa!!!!!!!

I considered a pathfinder, decided against it once i read about cam chain replacement required and dual mass flywheel replacement. Just ring nissan and ask about prices.... :doh

Well I wouldn't go to a dealers for it in the first place

In all fairness though, if a timing chain engine is serviced correctly you should get a hell of a lot of miles out of the chain before you need it replaced :nenau (Happily the 3.0 engine in the Trol is a hybrid gear/chain with the chain only running the camshafts and everything else being gear driven so its unlikely to ever need changing).

Dual mass flywheels are the devil but I believe the Pathfinders will take a solid replacement quite well (that's what I'll do with my Patrol when its dmf eventually goes).

The real solution for the dual mass flywheel though is to get an automatic - only manuals will have a dmf :lol

Get an auto!!!???

Nah i suppose that'll do the job :lol

Yeah the dmf is a bastard, was really put off after the one on my honda was screwed.
