No m8 in the kit there's usually some wedged shape spacers that fit over the sensors 1st (if you need them) so to point the sensors in and down abit.

No, sorry !! never thought to

I can take some of the exterior installation (tomorrow) :?: if it will help.

I've placed them very similar to Siweb, youre limited for space with the metal plate behind the plastic on the rear bumper.

I took all the wires in through a grommet I found rear nearside  and used the double sided sticky pad supplied to fasten the unit and buzzer onto the metal work behind the trim panel in the very back offside (near the rear light cluster/3rd row seatbelt mount).

I've used one of these kits. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150281972360

Quick delivery and everything in the box inc instructions. The difference between mine and siwebs is he got the led display, I went for buzzer only because I was too lazy to route a wire to the front and work out where to put the display

Hope that helps.

Hi I just bought one of these kits a pictures in the post, only difference is mine is Wireless from the control unit to the display (I rubbish a putting thngs back together after routing wires).

Anyway my only question is do they work ok if the vehicle has a sticking out tow bar?

Not a big fan of driver aids, but keep thinking I'm about to reverse into something thats still about 4 miles away LOL

Mines got the 4 bolt towbar and it works ok with it. yours the same?

Not sure what mine is looks like a pretty Std Double Socket Tow bar.

Do you know if you are able to set the min distance or do you just compensate for the tow bar?

mine is standard towbar with the extended tow ball on and get no issues with it at all.

well mine tells you to stop at 300mm away, which is ok for towbar and spare wheel.

Fitted a set of these the weekend and even for a complete DIY idiot like myself, it was pretty straight forward.

Just for reference if you pull off the cover for where the jack is kept, just above it is the main wiring loom for the rear of the car. Unwrap the black tape or protective cover and you will have lots of different coloured wires. The reverse light one is Orange. I tested by turning on ignition (not engine) putting car in reverse and then stab the wires with my mutimeter till I got a 12v reading (managed to stab my hands quite a bit).
There is also a earthing point about 12 inches down from the Brake lights on the inside passenger of the vehicle (Just remove the door strip and pull at the plastic surround and you will see them). The version of Parking Sensors I had didnt need a wire to be ran from the back to the front of the car as it was wireless signal. For the display thingy at the front of the car I wired into the cigerette lighter as it works off a 12v ignition live and has an earth wired there also.

Only other things I did is turn the 2 outside sensors upside down, this is because they are all disigned with the top of the sensor slighty thicker than the bottom, so to get the so the point a tad down I turned them around.

Tested that they were all working by walking past each one.

Ive thought about these for the cars, could you post pics on how the finished product looks?

ian jones put pics up a while a go.. but nw pics are alays good to see

I fitted some to my vehicle at the weekend and found them to be very good. Thanks for the info (whoever posted it) about the orange wire by the jack, a tenner saved in fuses on that alone!!!

I purchased the £16 ones from Ebay which arrived next day. Once set up i reversed (gingerly) up against the garage door until it beeped and found that the spare wheel and towbar were a good 200mm clear.......great job!!

While fitting mine, three of my neihbours came over and said they had bought a set but were to chicken to drill holes in their bumpers. Ended up fitting sensors to mine, 2 Landrovers and a Kia Sorrento!!

A little tip to the caravanners, you can purchase a black electric socket (lights) from towsure that has a built in switch. If you wire either the ground or supply wire to the sensor control box through the switch, when you plug in a caravan it disables the sensors when towing!!! No annoying noise when reversing the caravan.

Hope this helps
