Good link mav and what a perfect example of the unfairness
of this new road tax system.

so a truck built at same time to same spec but registered days
apart is crippled by more than double within 2 years. Its not
even like one is cleaner or dirtier for that matter.

also march 01, should have been plate 01 but of course the new
format didnt come in til september 01 as 51s so instead of a clean
cut off as the old plates, y reg are new scheme.

mind cant say seen many y's perhaps folks held off to get new
format plate. certainly should have sold well what with england
whipping germany 5-1 too.

As I was buying a looked inot this.

My Jan 2001 is currently taxed at £185/yr

March 2001> Band F is charged at £210/yr

2006 (I think March) Band F still £210/yr but band G starts and thats the £400/yr one.

TBH once I looked into it I decided it didn't matter £25 extra a year is pretty irrelevant in motoring terms as is another £185/yr once you get into cars that are costing as much as a 2006> Band G will.

Seems a bit harsh.

I was surprised when I taxed my Navara. As it is classed as a commercial vehicle it is £99 for 6 months or £180 for 12. The newer EuroIV engine is only £66 or £120.

At the end of the day my truck is a 4-5 seater with a big boot, much the same as Mavs, Terranos and Patrols.

If it's classed as a Commercial what's the insurance like :?:

Not a huge difference from a comparable 4x4 / big engined saloon, but then again I am a high mileage driver.
Fortunately I do live in a low risk postcode area.

Cheers

Join the club m8,but hey they ain't going to stop me driving my motor

nah - best plan is to start saving now ... it actually only works out about 70p per day more expensive over the year than the £200 band - doesn't sound so bad that way?
