What is the best product to paint the underside of the car with?

I am not on about a full stripdown and paint. just about a little splash of paint here and there to help my terrano live longer :D

Isn't it waxoyl? Failing that some hammerite metal paint, it's awesome, no need for primer etc and you can spray it directly onto rust.

dont do like i did once a long time ago though , and spray the exhaust too :doh

I already done that...............with proper high temperature paint :D , not the whole exhaust, the the back bits :thumb2

Tetroseal, thats the black rubbery stuff.
You can buy it in aerosol cans from most accessory shops, waxoil for inside door panels sills etc...

Waxoyl try and find somebody to do it for you, just had mine done money well spent.Get your local jet wash to do underneath and dry for 2 days before doing it.

Waxoyl, get a routine going, once a year , spring time (or just before MOT :D ) Spray the underside with copious amounts and youll have it sorted :thumb2

I have done that for 20 years plus on all my cars and never had a corrosion problem worth worrying about (and that includes the 2 metros :lol )

Its the dogs bits and very quick and easy now you can get cheap electric spray guns for less than £20 to do it with.

I strongly advise a steam clean and waxoyl treatment. If you can stretch to having this done professionally, it will cost about £400 and come with a 5 year guarantee against further corrosion. Try "before n after" in the Midlands or "Rustmaster" in the St.Albans area. Both are reputable and very thorough.

Cheap option is a powerwash, leave to dry, wire brushing and applying waxoyl by aerosol/pump kit available from Halfords etc..

Mine was done locally for£100 altogether and they used a full can,

Personally I'd be using a good rust convertor on exposed surfaces, then do the internal bits with whatever floats your boat :)

Yup, we once did the underside of a motor with all the odd coloured cans of hammerite that the local diy shop had reduced cos no one wanted them. Worked a treat :D

Hammerite is a bit old hat I think Dave (bit like us actually!)....there are much sexier products around these days that do a proper chemical conversion....

I've read some excellent write-ups on this stuff in my secret Land Rover porn collection! :augie
