Ok so my sills are bubbling a bit but still seem solid (for now) so I'm going to give them a rub down and paint, what I'm most interested in is preservation, Ive got some zinc paint but is this OK for this job? or are there any really good products out there that i would be better off using? pretty sure this is a job many of the people on here will have done.

Cheers guys.

give them a poke with something sharp, if they are bubbling they will probably be nearly breaking through with holes

Ive give them a few jabs with the keys and they do seem:rolleyes: pretty solid, guess ill find out when i start to strip them back, any tips on good paint?

I wouldn't bother lol

Just wait till they are goosed and get them replaced and painted

yeah me too doing same job been underneath its solid & just gone through its m.o.t but missing some paint , gonna remove all the shite from chassis back of rear wheels underseal them , mot guy said its a weak point ! sills im gonna get the paint matched up in a can on a nice warm day give em a good coating few hrs spent not only tidys em up but prolongs life too:thumbs

The sills will be rusting from the inside, if you feel along the inside you will find holes along the length of the sill I have sprayed waxol inside mine but you do need a warm day, or hot waxol!

The holes are factory made I presume to be able to spray inside. regards bri

been underneath but nt had a good look yet bri , yes it sounds like spray underseal is the best bet , its my next job waiting for couple days off work & hopefully sunny ones also gonna remove running boards too easier access to sills

I found there is also holes in the top if you lift the platic covers that look like foot grips at the bottom of the door opening.
