We've been clogging up Brian's thread with pictures of rifles and our quarry...

Thought that maybe we should keep it all in one place. :thumbs

As I said the last time I posted this, all 4 of these hares were taken at 188 Yards.

The Rifle is a Remington T-Bolt in .17HMR

It's quick and accurate. Cracking rifle.

Interesting thread.

Air rifles and pistols here, SGC and FAC, but rim fire only at the moment. Just about to put a variation in for centre fire when I can make up my mind about which calibres I actually want.

Have done a fair bit of target competition shooting in the past and now into game shooting.

Good to see some others on the forum with similar interests. :clap:clap

I've shot .22 in a tunnel range on cardboard targets but I'm useless. Think it's my eye sight. I wear varifocal glasses but only really need them for more close up stuff. I struggle with the distance between targets and sights.

One question and it's not a criticism, do you eat or others eat the animals you shoot. Not critical just interested.

:lol wise idea :thumb2

Last time I did any serious/consistent shooting I was hunting squirrels with air rifles. Getting them to come close enough and relax is a challenge, I was once so well hidden when I was first exploring the permission a deer wondered in front of me, about 2-3 meters, then the wind must have changed as it's head shot up for a second before it bolted, man I miss the woods.

I looked in to getting sgc and fac, went to a few clay pigeon meets and inquired at a couple of shooting ranges and decided I couldn't dedicate the time and effort needed to do it, save it for retirement :D, I really fancied a CZ 452/455 if I recall.

I will try one day to get some pics off my old iphone of the gun and squirrels.

If I shot pigeon for example I would prep it and eat it, squirrels I would give to friends for ferrets etc., one guy used to feed them to his birds of prey but not often.
Me and some friends once cooked wood pigeon spit roast on a stick over a fire we built whilst in the woods for the day, boy oh boy I will never forget how good that tasted.

Sometimes I bring em home, and one of the more experienced cooks in the family make something out of it.

Sometimes the farmer who own the land gets a few.

Sometimes they get left for the foxes to eat and other times they become fox bait.

I even have a friend who's in to Live Action Roll Play (LARP) and wants to make authentic hats and gloves out of them.

Just a couple of Air Rifles at the moment, but I'll be applying for SGC and FAC [Vermin Control] at some point this year - if I ever get this Patrol!!

I cook and eat pretty much everything I shoot apart from any vermin such as crows, magpies etc. We had a haunch of roe venison over the Easter weekend that I'd had in the freezer after getting a couple of carcasses from a friend last year. It was top class meat and the last from those deer. I've recently brought pigeon back that we use the breasts from and the rest goes to dog and cats. I still have hare and pheasant in the freezer from last season that I'll use over the next few months.

It's all good quality lean meat.

I have an old BSA under lever .22 that has claimed many squirrels and rats on the bird table, not lately though as they have not been about, Rick

I eat the rabbits, burn the rats and crows. I dont shoot many birds apart from crows because the feathers are just a mess to deal with.

My doggies also love a bit of rabbit in with their tea!

Well...

...if we're turning that rock over...

I've a couple of shotguns. Will be out either Sunday or Monday for a few hours clearing pigeons. I keep the breasts and leave the farmer the rest to use to lure the foxes out.
"This chicken tastes different" is all I get:lol can't wait to tell em. :naughty
I'll get a pic or 2 before I put them away.

:lol an armed society is a polite society.

Where did you shoot those, USA?

The hand guns were all in the UK before some w****r decided to go on a mission in Dunblane, how many times were the police warned about him?

So we lost access to them.

The assault rifles and the machine gun was The Strip Gun Club in Las Vegas. We go every few years. Next on my list is the Barrett .50 and the Browning .50 machine gun. I'm hoping to go next year for my 50th, I may try "The Buffet" package, ten different weapons, including the above two and LOTS of ammo. A mere $1,995. You're only 50 once.
