There's a tow bar wiring diagram in the downloads section of the site - that any use?
 
On mine the cable is connected behind the rear nearside plastic panel, (the side that houses the jack) the cable enters from the bottom behind the bumper. 10 minute job to remove, after disconnecting the seat belt and some of the forward trim.

mine runs up and enters near the passenger seat area , cable tied it for now becuase i have run out of time.
 
Mine is connected behind the rear passengers lights.

yeah they are usually cabled in the rear end somewhere but its probably not worth ripping the car to bits to find out. Just chop it off and tape up the individual wires to prevent a short.

A complete new cable and socket is only about twelve squid of smeone wants it.
 
poke your hand down on drivers side read light cluster cover, theres a flap. normaly the wires come through there to the inside

As I mentioned , the cable runs up the car and dissapears somewhere on the passenger side footwell area.

I will take the rest out next saturday.

Do you have 2 sockets on the rear, it could be the supplementary socket that cables to where you say as it needs power?
Otherwise seems a strange place to connect it.

just 1 socket and its a nissan socket
