I love boats, wish I could sail. My plan is to just save up and buy one, then I'll just befriend an old boy sailor type and get him to take me out and show me the ropes

Love this tho as the mast is easy removable so I can go down the canals and rivers of uk and France etc

I'll keep dreaming for now :D

I taught myself to weld to a reasonable standard by watching YouTube vids, I reckon I'll be able to do the same with sailing ... Maybe :D

you'll get pretty wet.... :D

take a RYA dinghy course, good fun, especially once it gets windy :)

looked into getting a canal barge, its bloody expensive to use the waterways, about £400 a year iirc, then you also need insurance, public liability aswell, gas safety certs, electrical certs, then have to have all the fuel line tested to make sure they are the right grade for use in the water etc. the list goes on, in the end we decided its cheaper to go and watch the other people in their barges :lol :lol

Hi, i was watching a guy going through the locks in Nantwich area with his boat and enquired what is was like living on a "barge" he said it's not a f***ing barge it's a "Narrow boat" Oooops won't make that mistake again.lol

My last job involved unloading barges using Priestman cranes(One air operated the other hydraulic). And often when i was on the wharf,Narrow boats would pass by.And the owners would always wave and shout a cheery hello.
No wonder they were happy they weren't slogging their nuts off.:)

I'd best get saving :D

How much are these going for mate ?

Depends on time of year , but in good racing nick like mine, then 3K min.
Very sought after boat as it's low displacment and what they call , a trailer sailor :D
Comes with 3 sets of sails , outboard engine and stonking trailer :thumb2

you could through the canals, my neigbour has a 12th share in a canal boat. The shareholdes decide where they want to go each year and each move the boat along the canal to its new position.

Member Captn Limey I belive, sold his house, bought a boat and spent years in the Caribbean.
