is their any one that uses an on dash/windscreen camera or mount?

i am thinking of adding a camera for the days out etc and was thinking is it best use a normal digital camera or better to use a dv camera the only thing would be the shake when going over rough ground

any ideas ? or preference ?

i suppose i could use my phone utilizing its windscreen mount but wouldnt be able to use sat nav at the same time

you can get a special mount for filming while driving. takes out the bumps etc.
i did look into it. if you want to spend big bucks you can have anything

anyway the bounce thing works with a mount a bar and a counter weight.

chat with rick he might have a cheeper idea or ask a friendly policeman to ask how they mount that kind of stuff in there cars

this is something i want to do too in both my cars, never actually looked into it though!

I made my own out of a conduit clamp and some threaded bar...

It clamps around the passenger grab handle and the camera screws onto the top. I borrowed a tripod fitting and turned a replica piece to fit to the top of my clamp on mount. I got some thin runbber and cut a piece to fit on the indise of the clamp to absorb some shock. Most modern digi cams have an anti-shake function built oin and althouth the car was bouncing a bit the picture remained perfect. Was very simple and quick to make...

Heres my result :)

Don't know it it's of any use but whilst being dragged around Huddersfield shopping this morning I noticed the Pound Shops seem to have tiny mini tripod things. They have the correct screw attachment to the camera so I wondered if they could be modified to do the job in some way.

i used a piece of foam rubber i scavved from work and fastened it to the bottom of my sat nav mount.cut a slot into it and wedged my phone in it.
got some pretty good vids with it.this is quite a rough bottomed ford and it held solid in the mount i made.
