Pete (Makeitfit) came around today to give me a hand fitting a Tunit II unit. We had the side panel from the passenger footwell off ... no ECU unit. We had the side panel off the driver's footwell .... no ECU unit. We had all the dashboard & centre console off ... and yes, you've guessed it ... no ECU unit. The truck is a 1999 (V plate) LWB Terrano II .... where else could the ECU be hiding ?? ( not under the seats ... I looked !! ) :nenau  :bow :bow

Just follow the fat cable looms :)

I'll have a look at wifeys 1999 truck when I can, but on my facelift its behind the dash, directly on top of the lower cubby hole.......about the size of an 8-track cartridge if you're old enough.....:augie

Now behind the sidepanel of the driver's footwell there was a black box about that size, but Pete recconed it was for the central locking. The receiver for the central locking was up under the dashboard.
Matt.

Never spotted that receiver and not sure what it looks like TBH (bit surprising that its hidden there given that the remote works so far away from the car?) but the ECU is a silver ally box usually....it will have at least three large connectors into the end of it with a very large number of wires in each.....

mine is under carpet in passenger footwell , there is a metal plate fixed in place with 4 x 10mm nuts

Perhaps when you find a suspect box you could get it's part number and google it, Nissan Part no's are 10 digit's long with a space seperating them into two sections of 5 digit's.

PS Mounted on the floor is a bit pants if you get water coming in isn't it.

well seriously, with those 3-4 great fat wiring looms going into it, its pretty unmistakeable to be honest chaps.

Supertaff have you got the wiring diagram with the Tunit cos that at least gives you the idea of how many plugs etc you are looking for....from memory when connected mine to my Mk IV there were something like 180 connections - not all of them were used but it gives you an idea how rhe plugs are and why you can't therefore mistake the thing when you find it........the plugs have a kind of a ratchet thing, like the one on a cargo strap, that you flick over that frees the plug from its socket...

Well going by the wiring diagram from Tunit , my model should have a 68 pin unit .... but where they've stashed it ... God only knows !!!

Hey Zippy .... There's a nasty rumour going around that you are like "A bacon sarnie at a barmitzva " ..... no bugger wants you !!!

My truck is a 1999 (V Plate) LWB 2.7 TDI SE if anyone knows where the ECU is on this model.
Matt. :bow :bow :bow

have you checked the Manuel..? I'm sure theres a diagram in there somewhere, but since its a 2002 publication it could be MkII, III or IV variant....

I would also say under the passenger side carpet, about where someone would put their feet.
