Hey guys,

About two years ago when i had a boring car me n the gf were driving lanes looking for somewere..Well you know..

Anyhow we came down a little lane that turned into a mud road which led a fair way into no mans land round a corner and bam its a river infront of you.

Now i remember speaking to a farmer at the start of the road and he told me it was a road and you could drive about a mile down the river and get out at the other side and back to the main roads he said it was access for the field gates but no one uses it these days..

So i can kinda remember were it was but what map would i use to have a look..?

We can all take it you found what you were looking for!!! Hope it wasn't no mans land.

Wow, that a great link. I never knew there was an online resource for OS maps... why buy another?

Thanks.

Alan

Indeed mate. There are a few, but for me that is the best and simplest.

I've spent hours sat here with the lappy scouring local areas and beyond for that hidden lane to explore :thumb2

Whats a green dotted line that when i zoom in changes red as i think i have found it..
?

even if the os map says it's legal to drive it still may be closed.

u can only drive on red or green dots or red and green dots+++ but as fez said must check with rights of way officer I did and in devon. any dots or + u can drive down but that's not the same in every county so u must check 1st.

There is one right at the end of my road but i know that is only a footpath though ? Am i looks at the wrong dots ?

green dashes are bridle ways red dashes are foot paths, red diamonds are special route foot paths

none of these are drivable

Also the lane i have done a few tiomes is a bridal path marked with green dashes..

Car

So i can't drive that then ?.. I know a car can get down it as a farmer uses it to get too fields

no not legal to drive unless you get permission from the land owner(s).

yep, that one with green crosses is sound

one like that about a mile from my house, muddy track then steep grassy field that is great after heavy rain, then another muddy track. no one uses it so theres no worry about ripping it up
