Hi There can someone please shed some light on the location of the top oil pressure switch on my truck, hell if i can see it ! The light has started to play up and normally just by stopping and restarting clears it but i want to remove it and replace but am having trouble finding the bloody thing. Any pictures would be great. Another dumb question for ya What mark terrano do i have please:doh its 2005 3.0di swb van T2 sorry to be so stupid but unsure, Thanks.

Ok Found it myself this morning, just behind starter motor, looks a bit awkward to get to. Ordered new one this morning from Nissan dealer £24.55 inc vat so not to bad, bloody light not on today, typical ! Still would like to know please is my truck a MK11 or something else, 2005 model. Cheers.

hello mate i had same problem on my 3.0td 54 plate, changed it yesterday, can you cancel your new one from the dealers as i got mine from milners cost £4,not a bad job to do,the one on the engine was a 27mm long socket,i would say yours is a t2:thumbs

Thanks mate, Didn't realise how cheap they were at milners, gone for genuine one, be interesting to see which one lasts the longest before needing to be done again. My mate had truck before me and he had it replaced when he owned it approx 35,000 ago so will see. Should pick up tomorrow. Did you just thread tape it in and can you remember if the elec plug just pulls off or do you have to press side somewhere and pull.
Cheers
Phil.

yeah just used ptfe tape on the thread and if you look at the new switch you will see where you push the tab to release the plug:thumbs

Lurch, when you say awkward to get to, just how awkward was it? I've got this job to do before too long but so far haven't managed to locate the top switch :nenau. Did you manage to take any piccies of the job?

Cheers,

John

Jonno, Haven't done job yet only got switch today and am now waiting for deep 27mm socket to arrive. The switch is located on the left hand side of engine block , oil dip stick side. towards back just behind the starter motor, if you look between the engine bulk head and engine block you can just see it. Picked new one up this morning colour coded yellow, i believe the lower one is a different colour and been told that 99% of the time its the top one that fails. Since orderd my light goes out typical. Once done the job will let you know how easy/difficult.

Much appreciated Lurch, I look forward to hearing how you get on! I'll have a proper look tomorrow once I've fitted a new reluctor ring to the front hub....!!!!

Cheers,

John

Thanks mate, just didn't want to force the plug off and damage it, job for next weekend if i get time, cheers.

Just replaced the top oil pressure switch, took approx 20 mins. Very awkward to get hands on and worse bit was to remove electrical plug as could only get one hand on, BUT then i unbolted the expansion bottle for the radiator lifted out of way (one 6mm bolt) enough slack in hose, This then mate the job a piece of cake as you can reach from front to back. You do need to get yourself a 27mm deep socket (got mine from ebay £5) located at back of engine on drivers side. Have taken four good photo's but am unable to upload, keeps saying upload failed so if any body can help or require pic's can email them to you if you post me details.

The file size is probably too large, I use paint to resize them till they load forget the size but it prompts you when you try and upload, now I have my camera set on TV mode when I want to upload pics to the forum, Rick

Thanks Rick, Have tried this morning to resize them, gave up, never mind.Hopefully by telling everyone to move expansion bottle out of way first will help anyway.
Cheers.

To remove oil pessure switch

Hi on the 3.0L access to the oil pressur switch (high level pressure switch) is through the offside wheel arch.

Remove the wheel and you will find a fabric cover held on with clips, remove this and you will see the switch.

Thanks for that mate, found easier enough once i removed the expansion bottle, never thought about removing wheel and accessing that way, hopefully sorted for a few thousand miles now.
