Finally, after 6 months of on/off light, got around to changing the oil sensor just above the starter, egged on by copious amounts of info off here.
Didn't have a socket long enough so used a 27mm tube spanner. Removed first go after spending 15 mins. getting the elec socket off! Thought putting new one on was going to be just as easy.....silly me.

40 mins of fiddling blind & one handed the sensor fell into the gap between the starter & the engine. 15 mins of blind prodding & much cursing, with a piece of wire (magnet just kept sticking to engine or starter) it fell out. Started again but this time when it fell I just could not retrieve it no matter how much cursing I applied (any suggestions?) LOL.

Went down local spares shop & bought & recommended replacement which cost £5 (a fraction of 'genuine' Nissan article). Got to be worth it at this price as this one was only 22mm hex. & at least I've got an extended socket for that!

Dawned on me that I should use some bluetack to 'fix' it into the socket (better late than never). Got it in first time, much to my relief.
Being overwhelmed with success I had another go at finding the lost one.

After 20mins (using the wrong cursing?) it started raining so I was prepared to leave it but one last 'fiddle' & it fell out!

This job was only supposed to take 1/2 hr, ended up taking over 2hrs! Now have intimate Knowledge of what the underneath looks like, & some of it even went in my eye!

At least the light goes out now, but hope the next time is easier using bluetack & a proper socket.....can't wait....groan.

I did say it's easier to remove the O/S/F wheel and pull the rubber skirt out of the way, you just look straight at it then and no blind fumbling around and loosing things.
I also said I got my new switch from a local motor factors, at least you got it done. ;)
