Hi its been a while. Been moving home and the terrano has done a fabulous job.

Today the oil pressure light came on and stayed on and has been intermittent all afternoon.

I understand there is 2 oil pressure sensors on the zd30, the low pressure sensor is just under the turbo and the high pressure sensor is near the starter motor and a resistor unit and are a common fault on this engine.

Instead of just buying a sensor or resistor unit, I'd like to install an oil pressure gauge. Is there any particular one to buy for the zd30?

Many Thanks Inadvance.

Do not think that there is any particular one for the "3" but my preference would be an electrical one, for two reasons, (1) a capillary tube one always has the possible danger of getting rubbed through at some point and so loosing all your oil, (2) the electrical one is so so much easier to install, in both cases you will need to pull the switch in order to find out which thread it is, Rick

Yep go electrical :thumb2

Use the connection for the low pressure sender next to the oil filter and turbo. Thread into the turbo banjo bolt there is 1/8 BSPT from memory, but you'll find most pressure gauge senders will come with adaptors to suit different threads.

I used a TIM gauge for my Trol 3.0 (same engine), sender was 1/8 NPT but there was a BSPT adaptor in the kit.

It's probably the high pressure sender that's gone phut as they can't cope with the pressure fluctuations. Just leave the high pressure sender where it is and earth the plug that normally goes into the sender to get the dash light off (I'm sure that one is earthed when all okay).

The low pressure sender is open when running (from emory) so just cable tie the connector for it up out the way.
