Hi all,

Since i did an oil change, my oil light has been taking longer to go out. It did start as a delay of about 2-3 seconds......

Now it takes a good 5 - 6 seconds to go ( if i don't rev ) out once I've started her up.

Terrano 2.7TDI 2000 ..... any ideas? :nenau

Cheers muchly

Rich

Was your oil filter the same size ? Shouldn't matter tho as its upside down on mine so doesn't drain when turned off

Other than that I Dunno

Don't rev your engine at startup. it takes a while for oil to circulate to the top. Respect the beast. David.

Did you use a thicker grade of oil when you changed it?
I used Comma's recommended 15W40 when I got mine a few months ago and ended up with the same symptom.
Going to change to Castrol Magnatec 10W40 shortly...

OMG!!
I've just looked again at the oil container and it's semi synthetic 5W 40!!!

This is what the motor factors recommended after looking it up on their all singing all dancing computer. :nenau

surely if the oil is thinner it wouldn't cause this problem?

I think I had better go back and get some 10W 40

personally I would change the switch as starters, they do not live forever and I bet it is the original, oil is oil and will not matter how thin or thick it is (within the normal ranges) it will not materially affect how soon the light goes out, it is not unknown for the pressure relief valve to get stuck near open which reduces oil pressure/flow dramatically, Rick

Where is the pressure relief valve located and what's the best way to test it?

Cheers muchly
