probably dripping down from the blow by control valve, its no biggy

I had to replace an oil pressure sensor once on my Mav, not because it failed, but because it leaked oil.:doh

Check around the rocker box cover, as there are also "o" rings on the bolts as well as the main rubber gasket.
These can be lost during tappet adjustments.

Also check oil filter, they are difficult to tighten, but even more difficult to remove... plenty of posts on this one lol....:doh

Oil changes can leave oil on the diff and on the engine under cover too, so check this too. Best to cleanup after oil changes.:thumbs

Hope it helps, but you will have a better idea when you have a more detailed look.

If could be a loose oil filter if it's dripping down by the front diff as quite a few have had this

Did the bloke who sold the car to you service it before you picked it up?

Oil always gets spilt when the filter is changed.

I couldn't tell you sorry, a few things i had noticed though, the oil is quite black but not gloopy, and the oil was definitely over the dip stick maker. The bendy notches on the dipstick id say it was higher than the top one  i imagine that won't help either.... (That's after engine sitting from cold and pulling wiping and re dipping)

Just to confirm I've got this right - bottom and top bendy notch in the stick is irrelevant? Just the chequered area in the middle is for measuring?
