Just been told my boiler has a small leak which cant be mended, it has less than 12 months to "live". Standard price is about £2000 for a new one and £1000 for commissioning.
Anybody know of a discount place for them. David.

What is leaking oil, water?

I am a heating engineer, what boiler is it make/model age etc, and if you can describe the exact leak point or better still put up a pic I will tell you if it is fixable or not, Rick

if rick cant fix it , it either aint been made yet or its totally fuffed :naughty

That's what I like about this club, we all have different back grounds, so we have a lot to offer our friends and colleagues. :clap :clap :clap

Yip, I've pm'd Rick.

Well don't forget, if its knackered then you need to fit a condensing type AND get a Building Regs certificate signed these days :(

Plenty of places you can buy trade but you'll need a proper fitter.

That's it... Cheer me up.

I knew about the condensing bit but forgot about B. Regs. Thanks for that, need to bear that in mind. David.

Depends if you are competent enough to install yourself.....if so, you could do it and get it inspected but a lot of engineers don't like doing that since it deprives them of income. And of course you need one to connect it strictly speaking.

Condensing aren't that much more difficult once you get your head around them, but if you ever move house it can be a pain not having a BR cert (usually in the back of the installation instructions).

But like I say, plenty of trade plumbing suppliers that can sell you what you want. Even Wickes do gas ones, not oil though AFAIK.
