If you go to the Comma oils website and punch in your reg no it'll list everything you need!

7 lts if you change filter as well.
I use 10w40 mineral not the semi synthetic stuff.

dunno what I put in mine but its due again. watchin thread carefully.:D

As with a lot of diesels i think either is fine, just stick to one and don't mix :lol

This has to be the easier diplomatic answer :thumb2

mine is burnig a bit of oil so I put a thicker grade just to rule that out.
these engines are an old stye so the new synthetic oil/semi synthetic are not as good for them.
a good quality mineral oil is far better in my opinion.
no doubt someone will be along soon to shoot me down and tell me otherwise:lol:lol:lol

I agree with that, fully synthetic would be silly, it's not a race engine :lol :sly

Castrol Gtx either 10w40 or 15w40 mineral or semi synthetic, depending what the offer is at the supermarket.:augie

Too thin an oil and it will burn it off:doh:doh so don't use 5w... unless you are in the arctic.

Not all web sites give the right information.
If you look at a Terrano and then a Maverick of the same year and engine spec, then some sites contradict each other.
It's as if they have looked at ford, and said for all diesel models... use this...

Next Maverick change, soon, looks like it will be 10w40 semi synthetic, as that's what's in the shed at moment.:thumb2

I run 10w40 semi or mineral oil nothing fancy is needed for these old engines with push rods:lol

Hmm, I'm on 5w30 castrol.

Prob a very long debate to be had here :lol

Far to thin in my eyes for these engines & i'd get it replaced before the weather warms up:augie hold on a min Alex you must have poured it down the wrong filler pipe 5w30 should go in the rear oil filler pipe where you pour your veg oil:lol:lol:lol

:lol as it happens i haven't really had to top us as she appears to burn no oil :nena
I also haven't done an engine oil change yet so I could ask the guys at my work to do a change for me at some point. The thing is i don't know what it's got in it atm, i just assumed its 5w30 as I asked the garage i bought it from :doh

I'm sure he would have told me its a v8 if i'd have asked

Well when you do change it put something a bit thicker in:thumb2 but you better find out what cake the mechanic who does the job like & get him one because after he's had the joy of getting the oil filter off he'll prob never touch your motor again or speak to you:lol

Lol. As it happens most of my vehicles turn out to be a nightmare for whoever is working on them :lol (my old xj6 bike, my old slabside stunt bike)

Could always leave the filter :augie

I met a guy once with an old peugeot who had broken down in town, there was an oil spill under the car...
I had a look...

The oil filter was so old it had rusted through and oil was gushing out...:doh

I think the owner was thinking of patching it up with filler...:doh

I told him a new one would be less than a fiver, and they sell them in a shop around the corner.:nenau:nenau

Lol, I bet the guy just got some filler

oil filter is simple to change
remove nsf wheel and put on axle stand!!!!!
remove rubber infill between chasiss and body then you can get at the filter.
never bother with a filter wrench just grab it as tight as you can and twist.
on the rear occasion I cant loosen it by hand I get a small cargo strap round the filter, put a small screwdriver between filter and strap, twist the screwdriver round a few times to tighten it between filter and strap and give it a twist using the screwdriver to get a bit of leverage.:thumb2
