That's strange - one minute it's fine, and now there's an odd clonking/knocking emenating from my clutch pedal. It's at the top inch or two of the pedal travel, but a quick glance shows nothing obviously amiss. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Dale

either the bolt at the top loose.
or its about to snap and the pedal will need welding back together. bout 30 mins to remove. and an hour to put back in

Hmm...

Thanks for that - I'll have a good look later.

Are either scenarios common?

snapping is common. but in my opinion they become loose on the top bolt then due to extra movement they start to flex and eventually snap on the spot welds...

only the snapped pedal is a common reported problem, but mine clonked for a few days before snap. if id looked when it clonked i would have probably saved welding it

the pedal is bolted (2 bolts)through the fire wall into the unit you fill with clutch fluid plus the extra bolt on top of the pedal

Thanks Extreme,

No signs of any loose fixings or cracks/splits in the pedal; it was knocking against the sleeve of the steering column on the return stroke. It appears that 106K of pedal strokes have bent the entire pedal slightly to the right, so putting my 20 stone to good use, I've bent it back to the left, and now there's no clonk.

Now there's a little 'click'; the hole for the clevis pin and/or the clevis pin itself are worn oval, so I've temprarily adjusted the pedal stop to all but remove the play (still left a little play in it so as not to bear on the hydraulic system permanently.

Anyone got a spare clutch pedal they don't want? Doesn't matter if it's a little worn at the master cylinder clevis - I can weld and redrill if necessary.

Dale
