ODB 2 connection

on my 2003 Terrano, the connection into the body computer is a 16 pin one. I cant seem to find an answer through search, so just wanted to check if anyone knew the answer.

I have an OBD 2 device, ELM327 v1.4, I use this on my Fiat Stilo. The connector is 16 pin, and does fit the Terrano connector - will this work with Nissan COnsult??

I have a MiL code to check after changing the thermostat gasket so I assume its something around that area like one of the two sensors, just don't know which...

sorry, never mind I found the answer. I got myself confused thinking I couldn't use the paper clip method, but I found the relevant posts here (thanks to RayF of course) and did the paper clip method - it was the temp sensor, but only because id left the battery connected during the work, so the codes have cleared ok.

Keep your eyes on the thread that I've got going at the minute around all of the Consult stuff as I'm currently working on a 16 Pin Version, even more so now I'm without one as my new car is the 16 PIN

I think nissan uses a bit of the odbii protocol but keep the really important stuff for there consult protocol as i had the mil light come up on mine yet i tried various code scanners and nothing would pick up the code and showed mil light status as off, finally used the paperclip trick to clear the code

Some of the later (generally >2004) have OBDII as well as Consult.
You can check this by looking at the 16 pin connector, if pin 7 is present the this will be the K-line for OBDII. In this case you can use either Nissan Consult or OBDII.
