Hi

Hope everyone had a good Xmas and look forward to a happy New Year

I have a 1999 2.7tdi Terrano,I have only had it since September.Have problems starting it now the cold weather is here have had to have the battery off and charge it once the other week, now want start again today not enough battery power.
It mainly gets used for short trips occasionally a good run,do you think the battery isn't getting enough of a charge on these short trips up to about 6-8 miles a time, needs a new battery or is it a trait with the terrano?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,Thanks.

Will it turn over at a fair lick but not fire, or is it sluggish to turn over?

If the former, check ya glowplugs, if the later, first job is drop test the battery and check the wiring / connections for high resistance, and after that have the starter off and replace/ overhaul.

The tdi dosnt need an awful lot of glow- but like all compression ignition motors, do need a decent cranking speed...

Thanks for that Tim,engine is slow turning over so will have battery checked to start with. Cheers
