This new T30 of mine seems to have an awful lot of road noise from the front.
Thought it was probably a wheel bearing at first but not so sure.
Also wondered if it was the tyres, Geolanders. Don't think it is though.
Seems to be more central than from wheel bearing, so wondered if there's a transfer box there. Haven't had a proper look underneath yet as I am working all hours of daylight amend nowhere covered to be looking. Having looked under the bonnet I would have said the noise is from where the engine is, it is speed related rather than rpm related though. It isn't the engine.
Any ideas?
Also had a loud squealing noise today. Sounded like brake squeal but pressing the brakes had no effect on it, nor did pulling the handbrake.
Bizarrely it seemed to go after a bit of hard acceleration. No labouring so nothing sticking or holding car back, and car free wheeled with nothing binding. In fact I am not even convinced that it was my car making the noise.
No other symptoms other than the noise, nor did the noise seem to be related to anything the car was doing ie. speed, braking, rpm etc.
What was that then?
Other than that I like the car.
Seems bigger inside than a Terrano.
Good off road and although it has buttons to press to make the 4WD kick in it does it on its own anyway if it needs to. Not even sure why it has buttons because I don't use them.
Had it stuck once but that was more pilot error. I just reversed and tried again. I once felt the need to put it in locked 4wd and it did seem to make a difference. Good job really as I was sliding sideways down a hill into a big pile of logs.
I have to confess to having a twinge of regret when I saw a real nice Terrano the other day. It passed very quickly when I worked out I was getting 35mpg instead of 25!
