noise when driving at any speed

hi i have an issue that im in desperate need to resolve, all of a sudden yesterday i started to get a noise that sounds like transmission. accelerate the noise starts remove foot from acc the noise goes..... i checked the main shaft and it appears to drift slightly at the gearbox end..........:-(
