Hi folks, can anyone help with the following?...

Took my Terrano recently to my local National for an oil change and was advised that my fuel pipes were badly corroded. Turned out that they were actually talking about the clutch pipe at the rear of the car. So, as advised by my local garage, I had the rear clutch pipe removed, the outlet plugged up and the system bled. Everything seemed okay, but now I have a noise whenever I push the clutch down, particularly when changing up the gears. The only way I can describe it is a whooshing sound. Will be taking the car back in tomorrow, but I feel that I've burned my bridges by having the old pipe removed. :(

Any suggestions will be gratefully received!

Sounds like the clutch release bearing on the way out - most likely just a coincidence that its happened at the same time - that or you've noticed it because you're now more concious of clutch matters because of the recent work.

Hi, and thanks for the super quick response! :thumb2

The clutch pedal has been sticking recently and, despite there being no visible drips, I've been losing clutch fluid, but there was no noise before

Thanks again, mate. Definitely looks like I'm going to have to replace the clutch release bearing at some point. Just hope the old girl holds out to get me to and from college, else it's the bike for me.

Quick update...

Had the clutch slave cylinder replaced. Seems to have made some improvement. Recommend Partco if you're looking for one - Just under £25 inc VAT.

Just had my pipe removed for the same reason, like you I get a noise now when I operate the clutch, mine is a low rumbling sort of sound and like yours it is more pronounced on change ups. I would think that it would be a bit of a coincidence for both release bearings to be on the way out, could it be that this pipe was put there in the first place to cancel out the noise? I hope so!!!!!

Hi Rick. Let's hope you're right! Changing the clutch slave cylinder has made it quieter, but hopefully there's nothing major to worry about.
