Hi guys got a maverick on a P plate 2.7 td. The engine has no revs and lucky if it stays started.

if u keep pressing the primer on the filter it will start and idle for so long then stop there is no revs with foot pressed on accelerator it just wont rev then dies.

any one have any ideas been told it cud be either the lift pump or fuel pump but though mebe someone on here may have an answer that is not so expensive?

Have you checked the throttle cable? As if it was the pump i dont think it would run at all?But i may be speaking shite :nenau

Aw well there goes that theory then it does sound like the pump as when you prime the fuel filter it will be using the fuel in the filter and the line then dying i supose but then again it should still rev shouldnt it?

not sure

Is it TD or TDi (power bulge and vent in bonnet)?

Is there any smoke and what colour?

Have you changed fuel filter lately? some cheaper filters tend not to seal correctly and ler air in.

If it's a TD or very early TDi you may have a mini filter, check out the donloads section.

I agree with Jim, start here and see how you go, or it could be the fuel lines letting air in.

when did this start? you need to check the codes too, this will hopefully reveal a pump or lift sensor issue. id certainly prime the pump first before starting the engine, and check the fuel pipes for leaks (drivers side, get under with a torch, the fuel and brake pipes run together...)

get yourself some clear fuel lines.. ( 8mm i think ) youll see if you get air in..

As an extra thought, the injectors have a spill pipe which is kind of an overflow that takes excess fuel away. The end of it has a Rubber cap that perishes.

As above (all)
Also bypass your filter housing by looping ya hose as ya filter housing may have a blockage.!
